Aree di Responsabilità	Description of the unit: The Policy Department of the Directorate-General for External Policies serves the European Parliament’s president, committees, delegations and other bodies with research and analysis on the EU’s foreign policies. By providing timely and quality expertise that is tailored to the Parliament’s needs, the Policy Department helps the political bodies (President, committees and interparliamentary delegations and multilateral assemblies) of the European Union’s democratically elected institution exercise its full role. The Policy Department also spurs understanding and discussion beyond the Parliament by publishing papers and organising and other events. The Policy Department produces written briefings, coordinates research commissioned from external – that is, based outside the European Parliament – researchers, organises workshops, roundtables, ‘policy hubs’ and other events, and contributes to or coordinates a number of working groups that serve the Directorate-General and the Parliament. The Department serves as an embedded think tank within a secretariat devoted to the Parliament’s core business. It provides analysis in coordination with legislators’ agenda and builds bridges between the Parliament and researchers outside the institution. The Policy Department’s clients have distinct needs, and the products provided by the Department are tailored accordingly. While many briefings and events respond to requests, a number represent pro-active proposals from the Department.
Qualifiche Richieste	We are looking for: A seconded national expert with background in diplomatic activities related to the EU’s Eastern Partnership countries and Russia, and experience in European Neighbourhood policy and the external aspects of the EU’s energy strategy. The job holder will, as part of a team of experts, provide non-partisan advice and strategic and predictive analysis to the political bodies of the European Parliament, notably in the area of external relations in written and oral format. Advanced topical expertise, experience in policy advisory functions or academic research in one or more of the above-mentioned areas
Competenze linguistiche	Linguistic knowledge in one or more languages spoken in the EaP countries or Russia would constitute an additional advantage.
